Hello Friends, I'm so glad you're here.

If you love whales, the way the sun shimmers on the ocean, exploring forests, taking ferries, or planning a wedding that's based around all the people that you love, then you're in the right spot.

I'm Maiya (like the month of May), an adventurous wedding and elopement photographer based out of British Columbia. I document couples who love to explore together, chase sunsets, and laugh until their stomachs hurt!

I'm based in North Vancouver, but I travel all over British Columbia! I spend most of my summers travelling between Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the Sea to Sky area (I have a special love for Pemberton because my partner is from there).

I'm a true West Coast girl, and you will ALWAYS find me in a Patagonia fleece with my Blundstones/Birkenstocks on my feet! Ferry rides, ocean swims, salmon rolls, and fiddle leaf figs are some of my favourite things!  I feel most at home near the ocean and swim almost every day.

Creating photographs that feel like joy.

That feel like you.

Creating true-to-life photographs with a touch of film.

At the heart of everything is relationships. I want to get to know you and the way that you love each other because that is what makes special photographs. That is what makes people pick up photographs and smile because they recognize the joy and the smile of the person in the photo.

I'm here to help you tell your story. To create images that take you right back to your day, to your love, and to this season in your life. This beautiful, shimmering, glowing season.

Photographs that feel like a love letter to the West Coast.

"Maiya felt like a best friend from day one. She is warm, kind, understanding, compassionate, patient, flexible, encouraging, enthusiastic, and energetic - I could go on forever. I literally cannot fathom how we would have done any of this without her.

She was woven directly into the fabric of our day, and it’s hard even for me to believe that we weren’t old friends - and feel like now we are."

"We can’t say enough good things about Maiya. She was truly one of the best parts of our wedding day. From the moment she arrived, she felt more like a friend than a vendor - warm, calm, thoughtful, and genuinely fun to be around. She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and was such a grounding presence throughout the day.

Her photos completely blew us away. They are emotional, artful, and somehow manage to capture the energy and intimacy of every moment. We’ve looked through them so many times and keep noticing new little details, things we didn’t even realize she had caught. It’s like reliving the day all over again, only even better."

"To have Maiya be a part of your wedding or any of the big moments is the best decision you'll make. She is not only a phenomenal photographer but such a ray of sunshine that will make the best day of your life even brighter.

We were lucky enough to have her for our wedding, and to say she went above and beyond would be putting it lightly... I think my mom said it best, 'it's not every wedding you want to hug and squeeze your photographer.'"

"I cannot recommend Maiya enough. She’s amazing, kind, approachable, and easy-going. Guests were all coming up to me and saying how kind she was and how she had taken the time to take special photos of them as well.

It was like having a close friend photograph both our engagement session and wedding. She is particularly soooo good at capturing couples + beautiful outdoor spaces, and if this aligns with your vision, don’t hesitate to book her."

"I'm proud to make my business a safe space for everybody. All forms of love are important, and all forms of love deserve to be documented in front of a camera. Everyone is welcome and celebrated in front of my lens, and I am proud to serve the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities 🌈"

A Place for Everyone

you, exactly as you are

The first thing you need to know about me is that I will never have you stand stiffly and force a smile at the camera.

I want my sessions to feel like a breath of fresh air- we're going to laugh, dance around, and drink in the views. There will be piggyback rides, soft kisses, and lots of snuggling. I'm here to document you and your love, exactly how it is.
